Coach of the Year!
On Saturday evening 10th November Justine Wylie from Lurgan Amateur Swimming Club was awarded a top accolade from Swim Ulster. The coveted title of “Coach of the Year 2018” was presented to the club coach at the Aurora Leisure Complex Bangor.
Justine who has been coaching at the club for over 12 years said she was stunned to get the award and felt very proud that her endeavors at the club were being noticed. “It is also a great achievement for the club as swimming really brings the entire community together. Swimming is a sport we are trying to promote and really drive forward with the development of the South Lakes site in Craigavon”.
Over the past 12 month Lurgan Swimming Club has developed a strong competitive junior squad competing in Irish division 2 Championships and taking numerous podium places at the recent Ulster schools gala.
These are exciting times for the club moving forward under new Italian head coach Matteo Taddei who is developing the existing talent into high performance athletes qualifying for Irish age group Division 1 and making National Squads.
